School sports day is one of the most eagerly awaited events in the SVS English school calendar. It’s a day that brings students, teachers, and parents together in a vibrant display of athleticism, teamwork, and pure enjoyment. Beyond just a competition, sports day offers an opportunity for everyone to bond, learn valuable life lessons, and have some fun away from the usual classroom routine.

Mahirrajesh Prabhakar Sawant is the Treasurer of our SVS school. Through his meticulous planning and budgeting, he empowers our athletes to focus on their performance, knowing they have the support they need behind the scenes. His dedication as Treasurer plays a vital role in supporting our sports teams, ensuring that every athlete has the resources they need to excel.

The Excitement of Participation: For students, the build-up to sports day is filled with anticipation. Whether you’re an athlete or not, there’s something for everyone. At our SVS school , Students participation is encouraged in a wide variety of events — from track races, long jumps, and relay races to fun activities like sack races and tug-of-war. It’s not always about winning but about giving your best and cheering on your friends.

At our SVS school even those who aren’t directly competing get involved by helping with organizing, cheering for their houses or teams, and contributing to the overall energy of the day. The sense of belonging that comes from being part of a team, working toward a common goal, and celebrating both small and big victories is invaluable. Not forgetting the inputs of Vishal Sir and Utekar Sir whose involvement in sports events goes beyond numbers; it inspires a culture of participation, encouraging students to embrace their potential both on and off the field.

Learning Life Lessons : Sports day teaches students important lessons beyond the track. It's an experience in discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Whether a student wins or loses, they learn to accept outcomes gracefully and improve from each performance. Teamwork is highlighted during relay races and group events, fostering a sense of cooperation among students from different grades and backgrounds.

The camaraderie and support among students often make sports day an unforgettable experience. It emphasizes how personal success is not just about individual achievements but about contributing to a larger team effort.

A Bonding Experience for All : At SVS school , parents and teachers play a significant role in the excitement of sports day. Watching their children or students participate fills them with pride and happiness. It’s also a moment for teachers and students to interact outside of academic pressures, building stronger relationships.

For many parents, this is a chance to relive their childhood memories or see their children in a new light — excelling on the sports field or showing determination to overcome challenges. The sense of community during sports day, with families and teachers cheering on the participants, creates a memorable atmosphere.

Fun, Fitness, and Friendships : Sports day not only promotes physical fitness but also creates lasting memories. The sound of the starting gun, the sight of classmates racing across the finish line, and the echoes of cheers fill the air with excitement. Students bond over shared experiences, forge new friendships, and feel a sense of achievement — whether they’ve won a medal or simply enjoyed the day.

In the end, I would like to mention our SVS English School believes school sports day is more than just a series of events; it’s a celebration of enthusiasm, teamwork, and the spirit of healthy competition. As well the sports events held throughout the year reminders us that school life is not just about academics, but also about growth, joy, and learning through diverse experiences.

No matter how many sports days come and go, the joy of running, competing, and celebrating with friends and family will remain a cherished memory for every student.

Annual Sports Day – 28 November 2023 :

Our SVS English school’s Annual Sports Day took place on 28th November 2023, and it was a day full of excitement and fun. The event was held on the school grounds, with four different houses competing against each other: Green, Yellow, Blue, and Red. Students from each house participated with great energy and enthusiasm, and even the teachers joined in some of the activities, making the day extra special. Our school celebrates sports day for 3 days. First day is for girls and the second day is for boys, then later the third day is for both who qualified for the final rounds. And then rounded up for the time of awards.

The day was packed with various sports and games. Traditional games like Kho Kho and Kabaddi were the first to start. These games brought out the competitive spirit of the students, as they worked together as a team. The Kho Kho match was particularly exciting, with players running fast and trying to tag their opponents before time ran out.

Next, the track events began, with running races of different lengths. The 100-meter dash was a favourite, with everyone cheering for their housemates as they sped toward the finish line. Relay races, where teams passed the baton to each other, also kept the crowd on their toes. The excitement in the air was contagious as students tried their best to win for their house.

In addition to the races, there were field events like the shot put, where students demonstrated their strength by throwing the heavy ball as far as possible. The Book Balance race was another unique and fun event, where students had to balance a book on their heads while running to the finish line. It was a funny yet challenging game that everyone enjoyed watching.

The best part of the day was watching the teachers participate in some of the events. The teacher’s race and the tug-of-war between students and teachers added extra fun and laughter to the day. The students loved watching their teachers compete, and it made the day even more enjoyable.

As the event came to an end, Yellow House emerged as the overall winner, with Blue House in second place. However, every participant was celebrated, as the day wasn’t just about winning but also about showing teamwork and sportsmanship.

The day ended with the prize distribution ceremony, where medals and trophies were awarded to the winners. Everyone went home with a sense of achievement and happy memories.

In conclusion, the Annual Sports Day of 2023 of our SVS English School was a fun-filled and memorable event. It brought the school community together to enjoy games, fitness, and teamwork, making it a day that everyone will remember fondly.

Cultural day is one of the most vibrant and colourful events in the SVS English school calendar, where students, teachers, and parents come together to celebrate the rich diversity of cultures, traditions, and values. It’s a day that showcases the beauty of different heritages and allows everyone to learn, appreciate, and embrace the uniqueness of cultures from around the world. H.O.D. of Cultural Department, Neha Walinjkar Ma’am is the guardian of our cultural identity, she ignites the flame of creativity, illuminating paths for artists and dreamers alike. In the tapestry of culture, she weaves threads of tradition and innovation, inspiring generations to embrace their heritage. Her leadership transforms cultural expression into a powerful force, fostering understanding and connection in a diverse world to our students.

A Burst of Colors and Traditions : Our SVS school transforms into a hub of excitement as students dress up in traditional outfits representing various regions, countries, or communities. The atmosphere is filled with enthusiasm, with classrooms and corridors decorated to reflect different cultural themes. Flags, posters, traditional artifacts, and even food stalls line the campus, creating a festival-like ambiance.

For students, it’s an opportunity to proudly showcase their heritage while learning about others. It fosters a sense of pride in their own cultural identity and at the same time, encourages an open-minded approach to understanding other customs and traditions. It’s not just a day of celebration, but also of learning and respect for diversity.

A Stage for Talent and Creativity : Cultural day often includes performances that are both entertaining and educational. From traditional dances and folk music to skits and storytelling, students express themselves creatively through a variety of mediums. Each performance tells a story — whether it's a dance from India, a song from Africa, or a drama depicting the values of ancient civilizations. Here we would like to mention the presence of our vibrant Principal Hanuman Padmukh Sir in cultural events who speaks volumes about the importance of creativity in education, igniting a spark of inspiration in both students and staff. His active involvement in cultural activities sets a powerful example, showing that leadership is not just about guidance, but also about participation and passion.

For many students, this is a platform to shine, as they perform in front of their peers, teachers, and parents. It’s also a chance for students to try something new — learning a dance from a different culture, playing a musical instrument from another region, or participating in a drama about world history. These experiences build confidence and allow students to express their talents in a meaningful way.

Learning Through Cultural Exchange : The most beautiful aspect of cultural day is the exchange of ideas, languages, and traditions. Students learn about different cultures through interactive activities such as food tasting, craft workshops, and exhibitions showcasing the art, history, and customs of various communities. This exchange broadens their perspective and encourages them to appreciate the similarities and differences between cultures.

Food stalls, in particular, are a highlight, where students and teachers can sample delicacies from around the world. From spicy curries and sushi to crepes and samosas, these culinary experiences add flavour  to the day and help students explore the world through their taste buds.

Fostering Unity in Diversity : Cultural day isn’t just about celebrating individual cultures but also about promoting unity in diversity. Through the celebration of various customs and traditions, students understand the importance of harmony and tolerance. They realize that despite differences in language, dress, or customs, we all share common human values of kindness, respect, and community.

The event helps foster a spirit of inclusion where everyone, regardless of background, feels valued and represented. It reinforces the message that diversity is not something that divides us but something that enriches us all.

Building Bridges Between Students, Teachers, and Parents: Cultural day also serves as a bridge between the SVS school and the broader community. Parents often participate by contributing their knowledge, cooking traditional dishes, or helping with costumes and decorations. This involvement brings a sense of togetherness and allows parents, students, and teachers to bond over shared experiences.

Teachers, too, play a crucial role by guiding students in understanding the cultural significance of their performances and exhibitions. It’s a day when the academic environment takes on a new dimension, allowing teachers to educate beyond textbooks and foster a love for learning about the world.

A Day to Remember: In the end, cultural day is more than just an event — it’s an experience that leaves a lasting impact. It’s a celebration of diversity, a showcase of talents, and a reminder of the importance of unity and mutual respect. Students leave the day not only with memories of fun performances and delicious food but also with a deeper understanding of the world’s cultures and a greater appreciation for the rich tapestry of humanity.

Cultural day is a true celebration of what makes us unique and what brings us together — a day that will be cherished for years to come.

Here we have Arya Sawant of 8A ( 2024-2025 ) presenting her testimonial:

In our SVS English school we recognized a small memorial of Ganesh Chaturthi on 7th August 2024. First of all we brought one small Ganpati Bappa idol in our SVS school and we were all excited about it and we all enjoyed a lot. We did a pooja aarti and some devotional mantras were enchanted, which reminds about our ancestors. After that pooja, our SVS School had organized a cultural activity where students selected from all classes performed dances to celebrate the welcoming of Ganapati. In that activity all the classes had to participate in it, so our class, ‘8th – A’ also participated in the cultural dance activity and our class teacher only taught dance to us, Ms. Sharon teacher. She is one of the best dancer to us because she taught a lovely dance to us within one week only that too with so much love and dedication. Then on the Cultural Day, we all girls came in a nice Nauvari Saree wear. We all were looking so gorgeous. So, our dance had started, everyone just loved and loved our dance. We were encouraged to perform once more also. Then our SVS school gave us some snacks and modak, wafers, kachori, etc. and we ate more and more sweet-dish. That day was a nice and interesting day for us and we all said thanks to our ever-exciting Sharon teacher, because she handled it very nicely. And also adding to it, even Ms.Sharon and Chede Sir danced to a Marathi kholi song , which lit up the whole audience present there. We enjoyed a lot. So, this was our cultural day in our SVS English school.
